Bulk Powders is a supplement company that has been around since 2006. In recent years they have become a lot more popular, building a reputation of great value for money. We decided to give Bulk Powders a try after seeing their whey protein being promoted cheaper than competitors such as MyProtein.
Upon ordering from the Bulk Powders website we received our delivery within a few days and also received some reward points towards our next order.
Profile
Bulk Powders Whey Protein is made contains 80 grams of protein per 100 grams (slightly less on flavoured versions). This means just over 24 Grams per serving which means this whey protein contains one of the highest levels of protein for it price. This is compared to other brands offering just over 20 grams per serving.
There are alternatives with a higher protein content available but these are mostly Isolate varieties which are significantly more expensive. Pure Whey also contains good levels of BCAA’s and Glutamine which is a stong benefit for people looking to recover quicker and making this a great after workout shake.
Value
We brought 5KG for £57.19 and also a 1KG pouch for £15.79. Both of these were chocolate flavour and we did notice it was slightly cheaper if we were to go for the unflavored version. However at this price we found Bulk Powders Pure Whey to be very good value for money.
Compared to competitors, Pure Whey is a lot cheaper than some premium brands such as ON, whilst still providing a similar profile. When we looked at their main competitors such as MyProtein, their prices are all very similar and sometimes identical. Bulk Powders is advertised as being the cheapest Whey in Europe and we could not find any similar brands cheaper.
Taste & Mixability
We tried both chocolate and Mint Chocolate. In our opinion the Chocolate Mint tasted better than the Chocolate on its own and seemed to have a stronger taste. However both of them tasted pleasant and we would happily buy both flavours again.
If you are not interested in flavour then the unflavored option does offer slightly more protein per serving. We used a standard shaker and the protein mixed very well. There was no bits left at the bottom of the shaker and it tasted consistent throughout.
Product Overview
Overall Bulk Powders Pure Whey is a great choice for an after workout shake. Despite not adding anything new or exciting, Pure whey is a good standard shake.For the price Pure Whey is one definitely one of the best value shakes on the market and a good choice for both beginners and experienced supplement users.
